New Submissions Accepted

Because of ongoing communications problems, I have decided to wait before installing further software enhancements to the ProfessionalProfiles service. Some have indicated they are waiting for me to complete the enhancements before signing up.

It is my reasoning that if I am having email issues which prevent notifications of new submissions now-- then others may also have access to software enhancements I make to the application. Noahs Classifieds [underlying application for the ProfessionalProfiles service] is a difficult application to customize-- and I have no plans to provide free software solutions. I am adding new features and building new SQL queries using the PHP open source language.

Over the last couple of weeks I have offered many the opportunity to submit free profiles. According to my information, not one person signed up. Zero sign ups-- not the problem. The problem? There are all sorts of indications many have tried to reach me or sign up for this service or other services I have offered-- with no luck. I am not in the business of providing free software solutions. Business diverted from my sites is illegal.

I will install further updates-- once I am sure those wanting to list are able to. I do promote the service-- quite a bit. If you would like to submit your profile-- there is a $9.95 annual listing fee. At times I will offer promo codes-- for reduced rate or free listings. There are none available at this time.

Sometimes I feel that many think my services or the software tools I develop are free. They are not. Illegal use of my code or software tools is prohibited. [The US Government cannot nor can any other government entity-- overrule existing law. My tools and code are not there for the taking. An act of congress cannot violate my rights. Government scum-- I am not sure. I will have to see what the judicial process dictates.]

Right now the service is located at The address shown in the window, no matter what you are reviewing while using the service should contain this-- at the start of the address shown in your browser. There should be no browser redirects or change of address when accessing the service. Five [5] profiles are currently active in the system.

I have never had a problem with submitting a profile nor accessing the service. Some have indicated they had a problem accessing the service.

Profiles Project Update 9.04.07

Continuing work on the Professional Profiles project. Screen shot of the home page [click image to beta test]:

Everything is going well. I hope to have the service available for use by late-September. It will have its own domain and the template color scheme will probably undergo some changes. I am thinking shades of gray with a splash of red.

Why would you want to use the service?

  • Extensive Marketing
  • Curiosity-- who's in business and what do they do? [One Saturday I perused every short profile in a similar online service-- targeted at women].
  • Non-gender specific listings
  • Niche professionals
  • Low listing fee-- primarily to offset overhead costs
  • No frills, blogs, message boards. Only profiles -- not part of something larger.

Marketing slogan: ProfessionalProfiles-- Are you listed yet?

I am starting the marketing and research campaigns early in hopes of grabing the attention of those in small business and consulting communities. I am also hoping to locate a major sponsor. Sponsor incentive-- ad right upper corner, all pages.

Profiles Project Update 9.04.07

I have been working on the Professional Profiles project. Screen shot of the home page:

Everything is going well. I hope to have the service available for use by mid-September, no later than the end of the month. Why would you want to use the service? Here is the blurb I am providing on the home page:

Professional Profiles is a fee based service that provides business and professional listings. Benefits from using our service include:

  • business exposure

  • site exposure

  • network exposure

  • easy maintenance of your listing
Initial listing fees are based on estimated overhead expenditures for the coming year. The current initial listing fee is $9.95 per year.

Our guarantee-- your renewal fee will never be more than half your first year's listing fee. In other words, should you renew your listing with us next year, the fee will only be $4.90 even if initial listing fees have increased. This for the second, and all subsequent years your professional profile is listed with us.

I am starting the marketing campaign early, in hopes of grabing the attention of those in the small business and consulting arenas.

Professional Profiles...

I have been working on a project that will provide yet another online database where professionals can tout their skills, tools, wares, and services.

This post is not about the project, but the software I plan to use with the project. Noah's Classifieds is a pretty sophisticated package and one of the many applications offered through Fantastico scripts. All Hosting-Q plans offer Fantastico scripts at no additional cost.

This spring I tried installing a version of Noah's Classifieds and ran into a number of problems. Today when I installed the application-- I had absolutely no problems. I have switched web hosts since my initial attempts and believe this may in part, be the reason I had the earlier problems.

Your query-- why not build the application [Professional Profiles] from the ground up? If I did, I would want to use Java and I do not have the time to dedicate to such a robust project. Noah's Classifieds will be great in this situation-- and essentially all I need to do is re-skin the application to suit my needs. I also note this-- to assure potential web hosting [Hosting-Q] clients, I will have extensive experience in this area should they too, decide to incorporate Noah's Classifieds on their sites.

Now that I see how easy this was to install-- I believe my last web host had a faulty installation script. At the time I decided to pass on fixing the script as I am always concerned with unauthorized use of my fixes and hacks. Some of the fixes take quite a bit of time to research, fix and test.

Now that I have the application installed-- this task will mainly be a re-skinning process and perhaps tweaking the code here and there. I am in no hurry so it will be something I do in my spare time.
