Hosting-Q Web Hosting Solutions

QiSoftware is happy to announce-- Hosting-Q, a web hosting solution has begun operations. Found on the net, the service offers web hosting services and custom software solutions at cost effective rates.

Hosting-Q hopes to find a market with business owners, non-profit organizations and personal users who are rapidly coming online to promote their businesses, organizations or personal lives through blogging.

Especially important to Hosting-Q-- the small business owner who needs an online presence without the overhead of a fully managed web hosting service. Hosting-Q is a scalable solution for this niche market, because it can integrate software solutions and tools as the client's business grows-- at no additional cost.

Hosting-Q also offers-- a means to afford emergency software support without going through the sticker shock of what those services can cost. Hosting-Q's proprietor, is a software consultant with many years of programming experience. This is an important aspect for many business owners-- who want to be more concerned with staying abreast of their own business areas and not the many issues associated with-- browsers, CSS, HTML or whether or not the latest version of WordPress or phpBB is installed on their service. Hosting-Q will ensure all of these things.

Another benefit-- if a client does decide some template tweaking is in order-- a full time software consultant will be available, if things do not work out as planned. One of the most common issues today-- "I broke my template, can anyone help?". We offer insurance for unexpected problems such as this. note... it is very important to backup templates and style sheet definition files before making changes.

Hosting plans start at $7.95/mo. for personal users up to $24.95/mo. for business owners with no contract required. Offerings include as many MySQL databases as required, POP Email accounts, cPanel for easy web hosting management, blogs, image hosting, forums, subdomains, addon domains [business plans], Fantastico, a myriad of other software tools and applications, and insurance for emergency programming needs.

What makes our service different?
"The level of software support we are providing to our clients..."

Do You Need An Employer Identification Number [EIN]?

Here are the IRS furnished guidelines for determining the answer to the post title-- if you are a business owner.

This evening I signed up for an affiliate program. Amongst some of the information was this tidbit:

This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this-- so out of curiosity I looked it up. IRS has no information or none that I could find. Anyone know what it is about?

Domain Mapping

I have been reading about Domain Mapping on Dave Taylor's site. I asked the LinkedInBloggers group how it was that TypePad blogs looked like they were being hosted on private domains. Several in the group provided the explanation of Domain Mapping.

Domain Mapping appears to be a two step process, requiring access to both the resource that is to be mapped and the domain registrar.

I am a bit concerned about this because in the past when I have asked affiliate managers about sales, they had odd responses-- which sale and what was the transaction number [my reports indicate I have never sold anything-- so why ask me in that manner...]? I recorded two affiliate sales for which I was never credited. Why? And why the confusion?

As I have lamented-- blatant denial see Why Me? Index, of my basic rights has occurred, so why use this bit of subterfuge if the Government is involved. The may wish to have it look semi legal? Enough are aware of this situation and I do not like subterfuge.

For the record, I have never mapped any of my domains-- but I have suspected unauthorized access to various accounts.

My current domains and sub-domains [which may have had affiliate ads] include:

---- no longer used/redirected from an AOL site -----

I have also used:

Make sure you know who has access to your accounts. No one else has been granted access to my accounts. Not ever.

Portability Issues...

When I was more worried about X-Windows and an array of ANSI programming languages like C and FORTRAN, rather than the Internet and how many different browsers played well with my code-- I worried about software portability issues.

Old habits are hard to break. I spend a great deal of time ensuring every browser I can find works well with my code. The last browser I gave up on-- Netscape 4.7.

Templates I am designing for use with the "Dynamic Business Pages" project-- are designed to work with every browser I can find. The exception-- Netscape 4.7.

Another term that maybe confusing to some-- Open... Open Environment used to mean software able to execute properly on any platform [operating system or some flavor of operating system-- unix used to be flavored]. Today I believe the term "OPEN" is somehow confused with Open Source and somehow synonymous with the term "free software".
