Curiosity & Meetups

Today, 3 of my Meetup groups are having events. One was this morning in Northern Va, one is this evening in Washington and the last is in Glen Burnie, MD. I often check to see what is going on with those groups I have joined.

I belong to about 28 local area [Washington Metropolitan area] Meetups and my groups have either something to do with business, entrepreneurship or software. I also belong to a couple of entertainment groups [jazz, etc.], a walking group and a cooking group.

I really want to do more with my Meetup groups because I think they are a great networking resource. For me right now, there is too much of the wrong type of curiosity. I often feel there is a big star standing behind me and the other participants are trying to get the star's attention. I do not mind having known relatives. I mind, people not understanding I am not an agent nor am I interested in the entertainment industry other than as related to my core business-- software consulting.

If it is not one of my well known kin-- then it is a government official abusing their power. I like being entertained. I always wanted to be a part of the show audience. I do not like unnecessary interference.

I am not sure when I am going to start doing more with this networking resource-- but I did want to remind those that come out for something other than the agenda of the group/meetup, it is not going to be worth your time.
